The Extreme Layerers see layering as a challenge, not a chore. Underwear over outerwear, jackets over shirts, over dresses – could they BE wearing any more clothes?? With a capacity to wear more outfits at once than anyone else, they casually top off their unique style with a jacket until it’s time to unwrap again.
Boohoo.com recently challenged me to partake in their version of the Olympics, their challenge? Create an ‘Extreme Layered’ look fit to win a Gold Medal but with a budget of £50 ($84 AUD)
So arming myself with the knowledge of a Blogger in the unpredictable weather of Melbourne (sunshine one minute, hail the next!) and taking inspiration from Style Icons and the Fashion Gods (Christine Centenera), I begun.
Finding the perfect combination of the right layers was a challenge in itself! Boohoo.com has an extensive online store and I wanted to add everything to my look! But I stayed true to my style and chose a simple shirt dress ($36) that could be worn over a pair of cropped flared pants ($14), a mesh top ($20) to be worn under the dress and a longline waistcoat ($28). While it may look like a fairly simple outfit, the details make it a standout. Pushing up the sleeves on the dress to expose the mesh top underneath adds a touch of attitude, while also unbuttoning the dress to the top of the pants to complement the flared look. Throwing on the longline waistcoat adds that extra layer and adding a pair of tall black heeled boots finishes the look (sadly my budget didn’t stretch that far, but they can be a purchase for next time).
While technically my look came in over $84, I took advantage of boohoo.com’s current 40% off dresses & tops deal! this brings the total of my look down to $79. Missed out on that deal? Don’t worry! Boohoo.com frequently has great deals for your all your fashion needs!
Also, I just found the perfect bomber jacket over at boohoo.com!

I am totally OBSESSING over these on trend blush shades at the moment.
Which is very unlike me as I am strictly a black, white and grey girl, but I guess there is nothing wrong with stepping out of my comfort zone once in a while…

In an attempt to utilise my summer wardrobe more and spend less, I decided to experiment with layering long sleeve tops under dresses. The result? this cute little outfit which I love!

I recently fell in love with the frayed denim trend that has been featured heavily in street style pictures and on fashion blogs.
I found a few pairs online for $100+, and while that is not mega expensive for a pair of jeans, I felt that I could DIY a pair of jeans myself.
So I chose a pair of Men’s Regular Fit Jeans for a slightly baggier fit, cut them to the length that I wanted and ta-da! Frayed jeans for less than $20!
I also plan to give them a wash to loosen up the threads for more of a frayed look and sew a few cm’s above the fray to stop it unravelling too much!

New York Fashion Week…. 4 little words that can quicken the pulse, make a fashionista’s heart beat pitter patter and drain the wallet.
Take a look at my pick of this year’s Street Style. Overall, I feel that the stylings were more casual than the years before, think slip dresses, elongated/flared sleeves, toned down colours, and sneakers.
What are your thoughts?
Love this pinstripe suit
Neutrals with Sneakers, a tick in my book!
Zanita <3 (who I once meet!)
The addition of the choker necklace really adds some interest to the outfit
Flare upon flare
Ummm… Where can I buy this top?! It’s a need!
The fray life
Can do no wrong!
I love the addition of the sporty shoe, adds some interest to the outfit
“Go Zhang Your Self”
All white is all right
Loving the tie detail on the slip dress
This clutch would make me hungry all the time
Pj’s for Fashion Week? Yes Please!
On trend detail
“I’ll take one of this outfit to go please!”
That ring detail
I am really lovin’ a few trends that are floating around the fashion scene as of late.
Lace up Detail
I am currently on the search for a shirt (or a jumper for winter) with this amazing lace up detail.
It adds interest to any outfit and I can see it becoming a staple in my wardrobe-that’s what I tell myself anyway!
I have loved this trend for a long time now, but I have never found the perfect frayed denim… until I found these and what do you know! they are sold out! ugh.
So the search continues, I may even have to go DIY!
This trend was a hit during the recent fashion weeks. Similar to an Ellery flare, but wider and more elongated.
Kinda like wearing your boyfriends shirt!
This is a trend I am keen to try out.. one day when I am game!
I love that a wider silk tie, a bandanna or a leather string can be used in similar way, but giving a totally different look each time
Off the Shoulder
A perfect trend for summer, even better if its part of an all white ensemble.
Sara of Harper & Harley demonstrates the look perfectly here.
If you knew me well, you would know that I am ADDICTED to culottes. I have several pairs on rotation.
So it seems a bit of a no brainer to try their slimmer cousin. If they are as easy as culottes then sign me up!
I love to try out new trends, but I always try to keep my wardrobe simple and full of things that I would wear on a regular basis rather than a one off wear item. Otherwise I find that I end up with a full wardrobe of crap that I don’t wear and an empty wallet!
