VOGUE SHOPPING NIGHT

Vogue online shopping night is upon us! The one night (well, the best night) where we can practice all those skills that midnight shopping has taught us. And we can actually PURCHASE those full shopping carts, and not abandon them due to *empty wallet syndrome*

Here are my pick for Vogue shopping night which officially started at 12 pm. Ready, Set, GO!

* The Daily Edited – it’s time to join the monogrammed clutch/bag trend with 20% off their online store

* Alias Mae – A Melbourne label with a cult following from creating high-quality leather footwear. 25% off all styles online

* Neuw Denim – time to top up those black skinny jeans that have faded from last winter. Maybe even grab a new jacket? Neuw have 25% off their online store

* Tony Bianco – everyone knows the way to a person’s heart is via SHOES! 20% off storewide

* Camilla and Marc – their VAMFF runway collection is still echoing in my head, so now’s the time to snap up the perfect shirt. 20% online and in boutiques

* IN BED – Since you will be doing most of your shopping in bed, its seems only suitable to order new bed linen for further in bed browsing. 20% off all IN BED branded products online

* SIR the label – beautifully created garments featuring minimal silhouettes and luxurious fabrics. One of my favourite labels. 20% off online

* Holly Ryan – Who doesn’t know about these beautiful, timeless jewellery creations? 25% off online

* The Undone – although not on the retailer’s list, this online store curated by Sara of Harper & Harley has everything the blogger could need! 20% off sitewide with code FLASH20

How can it be the first weekend in March already!

For me, February was an exciting month. I started my Stylist course at Australian Style Institute, continued my minimalist lifestyle by buying less, curated my wardrobe to be full of well loved, quality pieces and created a space that I can relax in.

The important thing for me this month was to do only the things that I love to do! That doesn’t mean that I just sit on the couch all day eating chocolate (the dream!) but to do things that make me feel full of energy and are productive. Things like: photoshoots, spending time with my partner and cat, writing content, curating my Instagram and walking home from work.

I am actually really looking forward to the cooler months, this hot weather has gone on for too long and I am missing my knitwear and jeans!

March also brings us VAMFF, which I am really excited for! I have two shows so far. Unfortunately, work commitments meant I couldn’t attend more. But there is always next year! I’m currently browsing my Pinterest for outfit ideas and the temptation to buy a new outfit is almost too much! I’m thinking of a relaxed, yet classic vibe this year, but we shall see what I come up with!

Back to the Stylist course with ASI. If anyone is wondering if they should pursue a career in personal or editorial styling, I would highly recommend an Australian Style Institute course. Not only is Lauren Di Bartolo extremely knowledgeable and inspiring, there is such an amazing amount of support from staff and past students! I’m looking forward to continuing my studying and career with them. On that note, I am looking for 3 people to style for free, so if you know anyone or would love a new outlook on your style, contact me!

Well, that is enough rambling from me! Leave a comment below with any highlights from your February.

For the past 2 years I have been focusing on re-organising my style and creating a quality wardrobe full of pieces that I enjoy wearing and will wear often. In 2015/2016 I gained some pieces that will remain staples in my wardrobe (Leather Jacket, Gucci slides, Silk Dresses).

These staples can be worn over and over again, reworked with other items and still look good.

My wardrobe essentials include:

* Leather jacket
*Black Cardigan
*Skinny Black Jeans
*Shorts
*Black Pants
*Black, White and Grey Tee
*Black Skirt
*Black and White Shirt
*Quality Boots
*Quality Heels
*Casual Dress/Formal Dress
*Flat shoes such as slides/sneakers
*Accessories such as belts and hats

Building a staple wardrobe for yourself all depends on your personal style. I prefer blacks, whites and grey as a basis for my wardrobe, although I do like to add a touch of seasonal colours such as blush and fatigue.

As you can see from the top image, my wardrobe is getting a bit full. So in the coming weeks I shall be getting all “Konmari” on it!

I have some pretty big things planned for 2017, so I am excited for it to arrive!

In terms of education, I have finally stared a path to chase a dream that I had for 2 years – to complete a stylist course. I signed up to begin an Australian Style Institute course in Feb. This is a pretty big step for me as I can sometimes lack confidence in myself and what I can create, but this blog has given me confidence to pursue that dream.

Ironic Minimalist will feature some changes as the year progresses. I have an amazing lady taking stunning photos of me and I hope to strengthen that bond in 2017 (Reannon Smith, keep an eye on this lady!)

2016 has been great – it gave me new opportunities and the confidence to push myself!

I am also thankful to each and every one of my readers, friends and the people who have helped me along the path of 2016 <3

Vinnies x Ironic Minimalist

Recently Vinnies invited me to take part in their #ExpressYourElf challenge. The idea behind the challenge was to change the way people think about Christmas gift giving and to show that it’s not all about the price people pay, but rather the thought behind the gift.

Shopping at Vinnies not only helps your wallet and the environment, but the profits go to fund the live changing support systems that Vinnies run. Services such as soup vans, shelters for the homeless and The Christmas Appeal.

I was actually really excited about this challenge, I’m an avid shopper of markets (Camberwell Sunday Markets and Fitzroy Saturday Markets being my faves) and love to find a bargain.

The closest Vinnies to me is on Johnston st, Collingwood and it was a small well-stocked space with friendly volunteers.

What I bought:

*White Plant Pot/Vase – I shall gift this with a little plant in it – $3
*Black Plant Pot /Vase – a little fern would look cute in this one -$2
*Japanese Glass Teapot – For the tea lover – $2
*Blush Tealight Holders – So cute! -$1 each
*Pink Tea Cup – perfect pair for the teapot – $1
*Blush Milk Jug – So much blush (I’m obsessed!) can be used for a plant holder, decor item or as a milk jug! -$4
*Own plant*

Blush is in big time at the moment, Vinnie’s is so on trend!

I couldn’t leave without buying some clothes!

*Qantas first class Pj’s  – First Class feels without the price! – Pants -$5 Top – $4
*Oversized Pj style Men’s shirt – this one is  so versatile, can be worn as a light jacket, with jeans and boots or even as Pj’s – $3
*Silk Slip Dress – Love a good slip dress, looks amazing layered with a tee underneath – $4

Can you believe I only paid $16 for all these?

20161210_123047

20161210_123147

Overall my shopping expedition came to exactly $30 and I am so happy with all my little gifts, I found a lot more than I initially planned!

Vinnies really impressed me with the quality of their pieces in store, its the perfect place to source anything from little gifts to home decor items or even some basics for your wardrobe without paying $$$

So if you want to make a change this Christmas, give Vinnies visit for your Christmas needs.

This dress is a perfect LBD for me, (and it was actually an H&M sale item!). Its long sleeves and deep v work together to create a sexy, yet low key vibe. Safe to say it’s now a wardrobe staple!  As usual, I’ve paired it with my leather jacket, a choker necklace (actually a ribbon) and Ray-Bans to toughen it up. Black suede mules and my Nakedvice Olivia bag add a touch of difference to the outfit. And a lace bralette peeks out to add texture.

I’ve also noticed that I rarely wear my jacket as an actual jacket, I just sling it over my shoulders! #Fashun

Have you ever had a sale bargain that turned into a wardrobe staple?

Boohoo.com x Ironic Minimalist

The Extreme Layerers see layering as a challenge, not a chore. Underwear over outerwear, jackets over shirts, over dresses – could they BE wearing any more clothes?? With a capacity to wear more outfits at once than anyone else, they casually top off their unique style with a jacket until it’s time to unwrap again.

Boohoo.com recently challenged me to partake in their version of the Olympics, their challenge? Create an ‘Extreme Layered’ look fit to win a Gold Medal but with a budget of £50 ($84 AUD)

So arming myself with the knowledge of a Blogger in the unpredictable weather of Melbourne (sunshine one minute, hail the next!) and taking inspiration from Style Icons and the Fashion Gods (Christine Centenera), I begun.

Finding the perfect combination of the right layers was a challenge in itself! Boohoo.com has an extensive online store and I wanted to add everything to my look! But I stayed true to my style and chose a simple shirt dress ($36) that could be worn over a pair of cropped flared pants ($14), a mesh top ($20) to be worn under the dress and a longline waistcoat ($28). While it may look like a fairly simple outfit, the details make it a standout. Pushing up the sleeves on the dress to expose the mesh top underneath adds a touch of attitude, while also unbuttoning the dress to the top of the pants to complement the flared look. Throwing on the longline waistcoat adds that extra layer and adding a pair of tall black heeled boots finishes the look (sadly my budget didn’t stretch that far, but they can be a purchase for next time).

While technically my look came in over $84, I took advantage of boohoo.com’s current 40% off dresses & tops deal! this brings the total of my look down to $79. Missed out on that deal? Don’t worry! Boohoo.com frequently has great deals for your all your fashion needs!

Also, I just found the perfect bomber jacket over at boohoo.com!

I am totally OBSESSING over these on trend blush shades at the moment.
Which is very unlike me as I am strictly a black, white and grey girl, but I guess there is nothing wrong with stepping out of my comfort zone once in a while…
