R E S O L U T I O N S

Resolutions.
Resolutions can be seen as a “dirty word”, associated with failed and broken promises to one’s self. So this year I’ve decided to set some goals for myself and not be disappointed in myself if I don’t accomplish them with a set time limit. After all, we should celebrate every moment in our lives, whether it be a huge achievement such as completing a uni course or getting that dream job or a small success such as keeping a plant alive for more than a week or not eating so much chocolate!

***

* Post more content/more often – Keep an eye on my Insta and my Blog, I’ve got lots planned for 2017

* Shop smarter – Stop buying into every trend I like, make sure it fits correctly, buy more quality fabrics/styles, buy second hand, investment pieces, DONT SUCCUMB TO SALES!

*Eat healthier/Exercise more – I’m pretty sure this one gets broken year after year, but now I have declared it – it’s time to follow through

*Network more/Make opportunities happen – I’m known to be quite shy, but this year I’m determined to create bigger and better opportunities for myself

*Be more productive – The endless scrolling on Facebook when I could be catching up on my magazines, cleaning or preparing blog posts, set a time limit and then get back to my tasks

*No retail job for Christmas 2017 – As much as I love my current job, My goal for a long time has been to land a fashion marketing/trend forecasting/social media/content creation/administration type position – 2017 has to be the year

***

I hope everyone had a beautiful Christmas and New Year, celebrating with family and friends

xx

I have some pretty big things planned for 2017, so I am excited for it to arrive!

In terms of education, I have finally stared a path to chase a dream that I had for 2 years – to complete a stylist course. I signed up to begin an Australian Style Institute course in Feb. This is a pretty big step for me as I can sometimes lack confidence in myself and what I can create, but this blog has given me confidence to pursue that dream.

Ironic Minimalist will feature some changes as the year progresses. I have an amazing lady taking stunning photos of me and I hope to strengthen that bond in 2017 (Reannon Smith, keep an eye on this lady!)

2016 has been great – it gave me new opportunities and the confidence to push myself!

I am also thankful to each and every one of my readers, friends and the people who have helped me along the path of 2016 <3

A shirt and shorts outfit is still a favourite combination of mine. Casual, but cool.

In my ideal world, these 3 outfits would be the only ones I needed for the rest of 2016.

Vinnies x Ironic Minimalist

Recently Vinnies invited me to take part in their #ExpressYourElf challenge. The idea behind the challenge was to change the way people think about Christmas gift giving and to show that it’s not all about the price people pay, but rather the thought behind the gift.

Shopping at Vinnies not only helps your wallet and the environment, but the profits go to fund the live changing support systems that Vinnies run. Services such as soup vans, shelters for the homeless and The Christmas Appeal.

I was actually really excited about this challenge, I’m an avid shopper of markets (Camberwell Sunday Markets and Fitzroy Saturday Markets being my faves) and love to find a bargain.

The closest Vinnies to me is on Johnston st, Collingwood and it was a small well-stocked space with friendly volunteers.

What I bought:

*White Plant Pot/Vase – I shall gift this with a little plant in it – $3
*Black Plant Pot /Vase – a little fern would look cute in this one -$2
*Japanese Glass Teapot – For the tea lover – $2
*Blush Tealight Holders – So cute! -$1 each
*Pink Tea Cup – perfect pair for the teapot – $1
*Blush Milk Jug – So much blush (I’m obsessed!) can be used for a plant holder, decor item or as a milk jug! -$4
*Own plant*

Blush is in big time at the moment, Vinnie’s is so on trend!

I couldn’t leave without buying some clothes!

*Qantas first class Pj’s  – First Class feels without the price! – Pants -$5 Top – $4
*Oversized Pj style Men’s shirt – this one is  so versatile, can be worn as a light jacket, with jeans and boots or even as Pj’s – $3
*Silk Slip Dress – Love a good slip dress, looks amazing layered with a tee underneath – $4

Can you believe I only paid $16 for all these?

20161210_123047

20161210_123147

Overall my shopping expedition came to exactly $30 and I am so happy with all my little gifts, I found a lot more than I initially planned!

Vinnies really impressed me with the quality of their pieces in store, its the perfect place to source anything from little gifts to home decor items or even some basics for your wardrobe without paying $$$

So if you want to make a change this Christmas, give Vinnies visit for your Christmas needs.

This dress is a perfect LBD for me, (and it was actually an H&M sale item!). Its long sleeves and deep v work together to create a sexy, yet low key vibe. Safe to say it’s now a wardrobe staple!  As usual, I’ve paired it with my leather jacket, a choker necklace (actually a ribbon) and Ray-Bans to toughen it up. Black suede mules and my Nakedvice Olivia bag add a touch of difference to the outfit. And a lace bralette peeks out to add texture.

I’ve also noticed that I rarely wear my jacket as an actual jacket, I just sling it over my shoulders! #Fashun

Have you ever had a sale bargain that turned into a wardrobe staple?

Trends: Velvet

I’ve recently noticed a lot of velvet items appearing on my insta, being worn by bloggers and on the street.
While it may be more of a winter fabric, it can definitely be worked into summer, a floral dress teamed with a velvet boot/bag or a velvet cami dress worn over a white tee.
It’s also the perfect fabric for the changing Melbourne weather!

Yes, it’s true, I’M WEARING COLOUR!

I discovered these ABBA-esque pants on Asos and feel deeply in lust.

I have slowly been adding touches of colour to my wardrobe over the past few months, it started with an army green bomber jacket and has now moved on to a light pink shirt dress and these blush pants.
As always, I will still pair them with my minimal toned pieces to keep true to my monochrome stylings.
