Good Green Box

Two years ago I decided to go cruelty-free with all my cosmetics and skincare. It was an amazing move that made me feel happier knowing that I was making a difference, even if it was small!

Ever since then I have been researching brands that are cruelty-free and unfortunately, they are not as common as one would assume (although this is slowly changing).

When I stumbled upon the Good Green Box subscription service I knew I had to give it a try. Every month a box full of beauty, skincare, haircare and nailcare samples (and one or two full sized). The products are carefully chosen to ensure they are either natural, organic, vegan or cruelty-free.

I received the January box which contained 5 samples and 2 full sized products.

Karen Murrell Lipstick in Carnation Mist
All natural ingredients in a beautiful natural pink colour that glides on smoothly. I love this colour, it’s a natural pink which gives me just a hint of colour.

Pure Deo Co. Natural Deodorant
This is my favourite, the organic coconut oil/shea butter formula moisturises and bicarb soda neutralises odour.

Fresh Therapies Natural Nail Polish Remover Wipes
These are another favourite. The wipes remove everything and don’t leave that horrible feeling like an acetone based remover does. The only thing that could make these better, would be if the wipes were bio-degradable

The Divine Company Certified Organic Gradual Tan Natural Bronzer
I haven’t tried this one yet but I am keen to. The bronzer sample promises to deliver a beautiful bronze glow while moisturising skin with Coconut oil, Aloe Vera and Shea Butter.

Be Genki Body Oils
This one is a beautiful hydrating oil that sinks right into my skin and is 100% organic.

Baimeni Sweet Australian Almond Oil Cleanser
I have never tried an oil based cleanser, so I am interested in trying this one! The oil contains vitamin A, B and E to help keep the skin supple and plump.

All the products are of generous sample sizes and if you love them you can purchase them (usually with a sneaky discount code!)

I will soon be receiving my second Good Green Box, so keep an eye on my Instagram to see what’s inside!
And if you follow Good Green Box on facebook, you may see a sneaky code to get your first box for $10!

Vaniday x Ironic Minimalist (Part 2)

On Friday I was lucky enough to experience the most amazing facial from Totally Skin & Beauty , all courtesy of Vaniday!

If you missed my last post, Vaniday is the latest beauty and wellness booking website and app. You can find, compare and book anything from a haircut to a massage, anywhere, anytime!

In the days leading up to the appointment, Vaniday sent me a reminder email, which was great as I nearly did forget!

Once I arrived at Totally Skin & Beauty (located on flinders lane), I was greeted warmly and offered a cup of tea. Maryan introduced herself as my beauty consultant and quizzed me on the concerns of my skin and the products I used. She then talked me through each step of the service and how it would benefit my skin.

Maryan was extremely knowledgeable and made me feel totally relaxed during the service. (I was so comfortable, I could have fallen asleep!)
Although my skin is fairly low maintenance, I still needed a good scrub to help by skin glow! Maryan suggested this product for me, which has been amazing so far.

Overall, Maryan and Totally Skin & Beauty was absolutely amazing and I cannot recommend it enough!

Vaniday x Ironic Minimalist

When Vaniday contacted me with a chance to review their health and beauty booking website, I jumped at the chance!

Vaniday fills that gap in the market that we all needed. A place to discover, compare and book your next beauty service, whether it be a manicure, haircut or massage, Vaniday has it all.

With a large selection of categories, I was spoilt for choice! I decide to treat myself to a facial from Totally Skin & Beauty.
Once you have selected your service, the booking process is extremely easy. Simply select your desired date and time (Vaniday will then check that there is availability for you), then simply pay via Visa, Mastercard or Amex. You can even select your favourite Beauty therapist or Hair stylist or leave a comment with any special requests.

For me, Vaniday is a lifesaver. I had been searching for a facial salon in my price range for a while and googling was only leaving me confused with a million tabs open! Vaniday provides you with reviews, prices and photos all in one area, taking out the confusion out of trying to find the perfect salon or spa.

Vaniday also has an app for Android and Apple – making it perfect for booking that lunch time trim or weekend spa refresh

I am lucky enough to have pretty clear skin (sometimes with the occasional breakout), so I like to keep my skincare nice and simple. I find that using products that are natural and cruelty-free helps to keep my skin healthy.
These are my current favourites (I also use an Australis Blush which I have run out of!)

I always begin my routine by moisturising my skin with Redwin Sorbolene cream after I cleanse, it’s a light creme that instantly sinks in and provides the perfect base for my next step – primer. The Australis Original Primer is great for everyday wear as it smooths out my skin and prevents my foundation slipping off. 3INA (pronounced MINA) makes an amazing foundation that gives a full coverage and lasts 9 to 5 with only a light powder touch up!

I use Australis blush to add some colour to my face, then I shape my brows using the “Oh Hai Brow” kit by Australis – as you can see, I am nearly due for a new one! I use the lightest colour for my brows and if I need a lift, I add in the highlighter under the arch of my brow and a touch to my eyelids. 3INA also has a perfect pen eyeliner which gives me the control to create a thin or thick line. I like to create a casual flick from the outer corner of my eye for everyday wear. My Lights, Camera, Lashes Tarte mascara is one that I purchased in Sephora, Malaysia. Its a great 4-in-1 that lengthens and curls my lashes while giving them volume and moisture.

Lush is my go to for perfume and lip balm, as well as a million other things! I use myHoney Trap Lip Balm everyday and it smells so good that I could eat it! If I feel like a bit more colour I add a dash of Models Prefer Lipstick in “natural”, I purchased this one ages ago in a Priceline sale. I like that it gives me just a hint of colour.

To remove my make up and cleanse my skin I use 9 To 5 from Lush, it’s a great everyday cleanser and its gentle on my skin. When I feel I need a bit of TLC I use my Sukin Organics Purifying Masque to de-stress my skin. I follow this up with some Kukin Organic Rosehip oil before I go to bed, these both help to sooth and rejuvenate my skin.

While this is just my basic skincare/makeup routine I would really learn how to contour like a Kardashian and be more confident to wear bolder lipsticks #beautygoals!

Although I love all of my products, I am in search of an at-home facial kit to brighten and smooth my skin and new cruelty-free brands to try – if you have any suggestions please leave them in the comments below
