I am a big fan of layering for Autumn and Winter. And coming from a city where the weather can change in the blink of an eye, it’s important to always have a backup plan.
I know most of us love to cosy up in jumpers and jeans when the cooler weather arrives, myself included! But it makes me sad to see a good portion of my wardrobe just hanging there, only having seen sunlight once or twice…
But there is a solution! Layers! And lately, I can not get enough of them; long sleeves under strap dresses, jackets over turtlenecks, long length over shorter lengths. Anything goes as the weather cools down.
A lightweight trench coat is the perfect essential for those chilly, but still warm days. The classic silhouette and tie-waist option gives it the flexibility to be casual or classy. Paired with skinny jeans and a basic long sleeve top to create a look that can be worn for an evening out or a casual weekend.
I like to know that my entire wardrobe can be utilised fully every season. The key to this is layering those summer dresses with a cosy long sleeve top. Layers like this add an interesting contrast to the outfit and helps keep your wardrobe fresh. Extra layers such as leather jackets finish the look and keep you warm.
The tie back detail on this dress is divine!
The whole ‘tee under slip dress’ was a solid blogger staple last season, I decided to freshen it up by pairing a simple white tee with this blush pink layered jumpsuit. It’s a great outfit for a sunnier Autumn day. Another way to winter proof a playsuit would be to add thigh-high boots and a longer jacket. The addition of the neck scarf is a way to add personality.
I love that I can change to look of an item and make it suitable for winter wear by adding layers. It’s really worth investing in a solid range of winter basics such as high neck/roll neck long sleeve tops and quality tees (for winter and summer) in core colours such as black, white and grey.
