My love of fashion has evolved into an interest in a future as a Stylist, so I am excited to announce that I took that leap and enrolled in a Stylist course at Australian Style Institute. I am excited to develop my newfound skills by gifting three people one of my styling packages, in exchange for a testimonial describing their experience.

Each session would be normally valued at $997 and will include:

– A style consultation – a one-hour styling session based on finding your style and learning what you need.

– A wardrobe makeover – a three-hour session sorting and refining your wardrobe.

– A personal shopping session – a three-hour session where I will help you explore your shopping needs.

– Wardrobe integration – a one-hour session where we match those new purchases to your existing items to create a wide range of outfits for you.

This package is ideal if:

 – you are struggling to create the perfect wardrobe for the upcoming autumn/winter seasons

– building a capsule wardrobe

– transitioning to a different/new career

– a lifestyle shift resulting in a change of body shape

– looking for a gift for a friend or loved one (Mother’s day!)

*Please note: offer expires 30th May 2017 and $997 value is not redeemable for cash*

I am a big fan of layering for Autumn and Winter. And coming from a city where the weather can change in the blink of an eye, it’s important to always have a backup plan.

I know most of us love to cosy up in jumpers and jeans when the cooler weather arrives, myself included! But it makes me sad to see a good portion of my wardrobe just hanging there, only having seen sunlight once or twice…
But there is a solution! Layers! And lately, I can not get enough of them; long sleeves under strap dresses, jackets over turtlenecks, long length over shorter lengths. Anything goes as the weather cools down.

A lightweight trench coat is the perfect essential for those chilly, but still warm days. The classic silhouette and tie-waist option gives it the flexibility to be casual or classy. Paired with skinny jeans and a basic long sleeve top to create a look that can be worn for an evening out or a casual weekend.

I like to know that my entire wardrobe can be utilised fully every season. The key to this is layering those summer dresses with a cosy long sleeve top. Layers like this add an interesting contrast to the outfit and helps keep your wardrobe fresh. Extra layers such as leather jackets finish the look and keep you warm.

The tie back detail on this dress is divine!

The whole ‘tee under slip dress’ was a solid blogger staple last season, I decided to freshen it up by pairing a simple white tee with this blush pink layered jumpsuit. It’s a great outfit for a sunnier Autumn day. Another way to winter proof a playsuit would be to add thigh-high boots and a longer jacket. The addition of the neck scarf is a way to add personality.

I love that I can change to look of an item and make it suitable for winter wear by adding layers. It’s really worth investing in a solid range of winter basics such as high neck/roll neck long sleeve tops and quality tees (for winter and summer) in core colours such as black, white and grey.

Waste Not, Want Not

Since we have all been affected by the “Kondo Decluttering Bug” we all have mountains of stuff that no longer sparks joy!

But what do we do with all those unwanted pieces of clothing? They are still too good to throw away, and there is no time/don’t have enough items for a market stall. We can donate them!

There are numerous organisations that can take your unwanted items (but don’t donate stuff that can’t be resold, it usually goes to landfill). Both Vinnies and Salvo’s are great, but one stand out is the Ecoture, Waste not, Want not Kick Start Drive. The idea behind the program is that pre-loved clothing and accessories can be donated to them and they will ensure they find a good home. Two of the not-for-profit companies they are partnered with are Wear for Success and St Kilda Gatehouse.

Wear for Success provides professional clothing and work skills training to the unemployed to help support them on their career journey. St Kilda Gatehouse is an organisation that works alongside those involved in street base sex work and helps to counsel them through any tough issues. Both of these organisations routinely need clothing and other items (full lists can be found on both links) to help provide the ongoing help to people in need.

Ecoture will also reward you with Ecoture loop points, which can be redeemed for future discounts and savings, on every donation. To donate some pre-loved clothing of your own (please ensure it is clean, in good condition and can still be worn) head over to Ecoture for details

As we say goodbye to another (!!) month we finally welcome the cooler days. I for one, am so excited to wear my knits, jeans and jackets. I feel that I dress much better when the weather is cooler, there are so many layers, textures and proportions to explore.

April is also my favourite month as its the one I was born in, and who doesn’t like to celebrate their birthday. Being born under the sign of Earthy Taurus means I can be stubborn like the bull herself. On the flip side, I can be reliable, practical and responsible. I never know what to believe when it comes to Astrology as there as so many contrasting statements out there. But I do enjoy finding out more about my personality and I can see connections between my own personality and these traits.

I have a few exciting things planned for the blog and myself this month. Launching my styling business (keep an eye on Instagram and here for that), collaborating with some amazing brands and generally just enjoying having this creative side project, even if there are some days I cannot dedicate as much time to it as I would like.

March was an amazing month; filled with the exciting energy of VAMFF, Australian Style Institute learning and buying more plants for my home. At over 42 leafy babies, you think I would stop now! But no, I have an order in for a Corkscrew Rush too!

I’d love to hear your March highlights and any goals you have for April, feel free to leave them in the comments below
